Very helpful!! Thanks for all of your help you went above and beyond in helping with sizing on my Log home. They also carry windows and were very helpful and competitive on window pricing. I would recommend them and will use them in the future.

This is the second time we worked with Hermantown Lumber and it will be the last. We experienced poor customer service from them 6 years ago when having windows installed and considered not using them this time around, but they are one of the fewer Marvin dealers in town so we decided to give them another try. They were very attentive to us right up until our order was placed and they received their deposit check. We were given a week about 5 weeks out when the windows would be installed, and when they had not called by mid-week when they were due, I called to inquire about the status. Spoke with Al and he told me that they were behind schedule. No one had bothered to notify us of this. He said he'd speak with the installers and would call me back to let me know when the windows would be installed. I explained that this was a time-sensitive matter as we had contractors who needed to do work right after the windows would be installed and they wanted to do their work soon as the weather was turning cold. Al never called back. I phoned again the next day and spoke with Jerry, who could give me no information about the installation but promised to call me back at the end of the day with information. He never did. I called the next day and went through the same process with Jerry - he promised to return my call by the end of the day and did not. Finally got ahold of Kevin and explained my frustration and several days later they sent over an installer who informed us that it would be "a week or two" before he could get to our job. He was not the regular installer and said he had only just been called by Hermantown Lumber to do the job. Clearly, Hermantown Lumber did not actually book our job with the installers ahead of time but only made the call a week after the windows were supposed to be installed in the first place. We were told the job would take one day. The installer was in and out of our house, tracking dirt everywhere, leaving his tools and trash all over, for more than two weeks installing the windows. He reported that the windows hadn't been measured accurately and said he had trouble getting them to fit. He sanded extra trim to fit in the windows and left sawdust over all surfaces. In the bathroom the toothbrushes and towels were covered with sawdust, in addition to the floor and vanity. Meanwhile, the wrong hardware had been brought for the windows, many of the grates that were supposed to be painted were not, and some grates did not fit in the windows. All of this meant more time. It was a solid month before the job was done and just after the Hermantown Lumber rep finished installing the hardware on the last day, he wanted me to cut him a check on the spot rather than handing me a bill so I could mail a check. The whole experience was a nightmare, from the awful customer service to the lateness of the install to the installer taking weeks and leaving dirt and junk all over the house to the mishaps with the grates and hardware. It's true that there is not a lot of competition in town for Marvin windows but if we ever need another one, we will go anywhere but Hermantown Lumber.

Thieves! I bought siding for my home and had some extra that I returned after I was finished. I paid in full when I ordered it, now over 1 year later, I still have yet to receive a check for the returned items. Called/emailed multiple times. Now the owner Jerry won't answer my calls, neither will his two sons Kevin or Trevor. BUYER BEWARE. I recommend you take your business elsewhere.

Marvin needs to pull their products from them! Used Proctor builders for rest of windows, order and delivery went smoothly.

I needed some lumber cut to build a dock for a photoshoot I was doing in the Duluth area and the crew at Hermantown Lumber were willing to help out even though it was just a small request.

Ordered first half our house windows and patio doors from them. Wrong handle color on two of the three doors. They told us they would get the correct ones coming, and then didn't. The sliding doors didn't work smoothly due to a manufacturing flaw. After dozens of calls and lots of what turned out to be lies still no help. Including saying the handles were ordered and he would personally call the Marvin service guy because he used to work there. I finally called Marvin directly and explained things. They made it right, had the new handles in two days and the Rep was there within a week. Rep hadn't heard from them, nor had the handles been ordered. He also said he did indeed work there something like 15 years, 14 too long!
