Great experience at this place! They got me in on very short notice on a holiday weekend and got the job done. Very knowledgeable and got me right back on the road. Saved me as it is a -40 degree wind chill, yet they seen to it that I was a priority. Highly recommend them for any of your "in shop" automotive needs. Reasonable prices as well!
*THIS RATING IS MAINLY FOR THIS COMPANY'S TOWING SERVICE*
This is a bit lengthy, so bear with me. But it may help you avoid a disaster, so please read on: The heater went out on my husband's Ford Explorer and it was dangerous for him to drive because the windshield kept freezing over. So he drove it to the Ford dealership in Duluth and let them look at it. They said that they would have to take the dash out to fix the problem and all told it would be NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS!! We told them no; we can't do that so please just leave it in the parking lot. We called Geico for a tow around noon. They said Hermantown Amoco would pick the Explorer up around 3 pm, we would have to pay the mileage overage to Solon Springs (where we and our mechanic live, 39 miles from Duluth), and the driver would call directly for credit card information. So we saw to our business in town and went home and talked to our mechanic- thankfully I had driven my vehicle up to Duluth to meet my husband coming home from out of town, because what happened next is a fiasco... So 3 comes and goes... then 4... then it's 4:30 and still nothing from the tow company. So I called Geico back and they were very upset and apologetic and called the tow company. Evidently Hermantown Amoco's tow truck broke down and they were now behind schedule. They said they'd be there in 60 minutes to load our vehicle. Fine. So 5:30 comes and still nothing. I call Geico back and they are appalled. They called the tow company back and the company got snotty, saying "we told you last time that our truck broke down twice (they told Geico once) and we didn't know exactly when we'd get to the Explorer (no; they quoted 60 minutes to the Geico rep)". So the lady at Geico spent the next 20 minutes calling every tow company in Duluth and could find and NO ONE who would tow the truck last night. Either they didn't have an after hours service or they refused because snow was moving in. The only reason it was such a big deal was because my husband's stuff was in the truck. His pillows to sleep on, his clothes, his medications, *everything* because he had been out of town. We ended up having to go with Hermantown Amoco, who was running extremely late. We had to pack up our 3 kids and leave at 6:30 pm and go BACK up to Duluth for the second time in one day so we could get husband's stuff. And now, at 2 pm the next day, my husband went to talk to our mechanic and the Explorer STILL ISN'T THERE!! The mechanic called Hermantown Amoco and evidently there was a "miscommunication" and our vehicle will arrive "sometime today". Absolutely unacceptable. My husband needs his truck for work because he works out of state all week- I can't drive him to work. Our mechanic was going to fix his truck today (Saturday) so he could get back to work. That likely won't happen now. I am beyond angry at this point.
Have always had a pleasant experience with the Auto Shop and prices are very reasonable. They generally are able to get my car in within a day and can easily drop it off, talk to them, and get everything squared away. I have had my vehicles serviced there for the last 12 years and never had to return for a fix gone bad.
